Tel Aviv Quartet
The Tel Aviv Quartet was founded in 1959.
The first concert performed was at the Tel Aviv Museum, and the first overseas tour took place in 1962.
The three founding members of the Quartet were Chaim Taub, Daniel Benyamini and Uzi Wiesel.
The 2nd violinists of the Quartet were in order of time: Ofer Karmi, Uri Pianka, Menachem Breuer, Yefim Boyko and Lazar Schuster. The Quartet performed on all continents and in major musical centres around the world as well as at prestigious festivals such as the Edinburgh Festival, and became one of the Israel’s leading cultural ambassadors. The Quartet was invited by the European Broadcasting Authority on numerous occasions to perform concerts that were broadcast internationally. In Israel they participated in all of the festivals and chamber music venues regularly.
The Quartet premiered numerous Israeli works by composers such as Joseph Tal, Zvi Avni, Mordechai Seter and others.
The Quartet performed with leading International musicians such as: Daniel Barenboim, Radu Lupu, Christoph Eschenbach, Kristian Zimmerman, Andras Schiff, Heather Harper, as well as leading Israeli musicians such as Pnina Salzman. A special collaboration took place with the Clarinetist Yona Ettlinger, with whom they toured extensively overseas.
